What to Expect
On the day of your surgery:
- Eat a light breakfast and take any regular medications (unless otherwise directed).
- Once you arrive, we will provide anaesthetic to fully numb the area for both the procedure and the hours immediately after, when discomfort is typically strongest.
- We will review your X-rays or photos so you understand why the extraction is necessary, as well as discuss replacement options if applicable.
During the procedure, you will be comfortably reclined and may watch television or Netflix. Most patients feel only mild pressure, not pain. After the tooth is removed, the area will be packed and closed with self-dissolving sutures. Patients typically rest in the chair for several minutes before leaving.
